Its Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Often when you first move into an apartment it means reducing clutter. However, at Christmas time you tend to break the rules and go a bit crazy on the decorations!

If you are anything like me and are a bit Christmas crazy, your decorations may already be up and accumulating on a weekly basis as the shops become filled with glitter and snow!

However, for most people who celebrate Christmas, you will be getting ready to put up your decorations on December 1st.

At SSKB we have put together this article to give you some tips and tricks for decorating your apartment this Christmas!

Unlike most other décor, Christmas decorations are often personal, and full of memories. This invariably means everything ends up on the tree, but if you’re looking to pare down, we have shared some tips below!

Go through your decorations– Look at all of your decorations and get rid of broken and battered baubles and threadbare tinsel.

Keep only the important decorations – they may not be the most expensive pieces, but they might have sentimental value such as a gift from a child or another special memory. Consider giving away or storing less important decorations.

Start with a theme – Decide on just one or two colours – red and green, silver and gold, blue and white. A limited colour palette co-ordinates the display, giving it the designer touch. And if that’s too much, a simple Christmas tree with built in LED lighting could be just the ticket.

Keep it simple – If space is at a premium, you don’t even need a Christmas tree to have a festive display. Simply hanging greenery in the form of a garland or a wreath is enough to hint at the Christmas season.

In my apartment we have placed Christmas wreaths on every door– it takes up no space but still exudes Christmas spirit! Simply decorating the dining table with a festive centerpiece will put you in the Christmas zone!

We hope everyone has a great festive season with their loved ones and everyone stays safe over the holidays!
