In most cases, the fees for the management of bodies corporate are separated into two areas:

• the management fee; and
• the Printing Postage & Stationery (PPS) or outlay fee.

It is essential bodies corporate realise that ALL community management companies have a PP&S charge but do no make it as transparent as they should. To accurately calculate the true fees charged by each company, account must be taken of the outlay charges.

SSKB is confident our preferred fee structure has the fairest and most understandable basis - with no hidden costs.

Our preferred approach to charging for PP&S fees is on a "fixed-fee" basis. When our competitors use the "as required" or "pay-per-piece" system it is just like dealing with a law firm where each printed and copied page is counted and charged, as are all faxes, emails and phone calls. The problem with this type of charge is that it is usually impossible for a body corporate to accurately budget for such outlays in any given year.

Our research indicates that outlay fees have often been in excess of the management fee in some bodies corporate. This is a less than sound fiscal management practice for a community.
